Galaxidi to Corinth

annjsaundry

Our days in Galaxidi had been most enjoyable and leaving was not easy for more than one reason.

On exiting the quay, we struggled to raise our anchor and it soon became clear that one of the boats that had arrived whilst we were at Delphi had dropped their anchor over our chain. Thankfully, this was something that we had encountered before and we had a contraption to deal with this very occurrence.

Whilst Annie took the helm, Donald used this to hook round the errant anchor and disentangle ourselves in a matter of moments.

Problem solved, we said goodbye to Galaxidi and were again heading east towards the Corinth Canal.

The journey was about 35nm and we were going to decide on our mooring spot depending on the weather once we were closer to the entrance of the canal.

Miles stood before us and all was very uneventful until we suddenly saw some breaks in the water around us.

We were surrounded by a large school of dolphins that played around the boat which was completely thrilling!!

They stayed with us for about 10 minutes but then they were gone....

Looking at wind and weather, we decided to anchor on the north coast of the gulf about 4nm from the entrance of the canal. It was just off a beach in 6m and the anchor held well.

Whilst there were facilities ashore, we opted to have drinks and supper aboard which we enjoyed as the sun sank over the horizon.
